Rotational Error Clock

Quite an interesting development in oeCake analysis. From efforts to accurately determine time, it has been discovered the game does rather poorly at simulating accurate rotation. This is responsible for a variety of quantum effects. This device sprung from the work to create a mathematically perfect in-game clock. It was found that particles precess over time as a result of cumulative errors in rotational calculations. As the game measures rotation in radians and it is mathematically impossible to specify a precise angle, it is essentially impossible to create a device that rotates at a perfectly defined rate.

This device was created to measure the error rate as a function of spin magnitude. The red particles represent fractions of pi simi…

Nanoscale Continuously-Variable Spin Enrichment Engine

This interesting device takes advantage of Elastic's join to generate torque. By setting the join distance too far for contact and anchoring one of the particles as VREX, spin energy is applied but cannot be relieved. The angle of the floating Elastic particle works to rotate the anchored particle, which cannot for some reason. Any particle that touches the anchored particle will receive some of it's untapped spin energy.

Magnetism

This is an interesting experiment that demonstrates a particle transmitting it's internal state to other, remote particles. Despite magnetism not being programmed into OE-Cake, there are several reasons why I think the name is apt. After pressing and holding an arrow key, things get interesting.

One, the particles collect together, as if attracted. Two, it is apparent the groups of particles settle at right angles to the direction being pressed. Three, the particles collecting around two lobes, and avoiding those parallel to the direction of travel, is reminiscent of "poles".

Another interesting behavior is that the two groups of particles will oscillate essentially forever, having no friction. Their masses tug and pull on the central parti…

Newton's Cradle

Sadly as of this post, a successful nanoscale solution to Newton's Cradle has proven to be elusive. Wide Parameters tweaking has not produced realistic behavior.

Semi-Solid Elastic

This is a very unique material that is caused by un-linked RE material. Normally drawing RE causes every particle to be in the same rigid group, however I modified the save so each particle is it's own group and can interact freely. This takes advantage of Rigid's special rigid-body interactions between particles to cause Elastic to be considerably stiffer.

Scatter Test

This file is an experimental setup used for quantifying single-particle interactions. A single particle is fired towards a target particle, and the precise differences in how it deflects is recorded when the particle comes to rest on the Mochi cage.

Simplest Possible Double Pendulum

It is mathematically impossible to produce a double pendulum with fewer components. The simulation is less than perfect, OE-Cake appears to have some losses associated with either rotation or physical travel. However still quite mesmerizing to watch. These losses appear to be rooted in quantum mechanical effects, higher timeStepsPerFrame reduces the accuracy at which the particles can travel and this seems to generate losses.
